Drawing on 35 years of experience in the field of adult education, culture and English as a Second Language (ESL), Heather’s experience includes teaching and assessing all levels and subjects of ESL, leading professional development seminars and developing educational materials. Concurrently with training at Voice to Word, she was a professor of Canadian Workplace Culture at Sheridan College Institute of Applied Technology and Advanced Learning for close to 10 years. She has taught extensively in community programs, post-secondary ESL, business ESL and private tutoring and has worked both nationally and internationally. Over the years, she has trained students from all over the world with a wide variety of linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
With ESL certification from the University of Toronto and TESL Ontario, along with a Masters degree from York University in voice, culture and education, Heather’s training includes courses in adult education, second language acquisition, English pronunciation, inter-cultural communication, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), voice and music.
Heather learned Spanish as an adult, a process through which she developed an intuitive understanding of the complexity of second-language learning. By drawing on this combination of education and experience in various aspects of voice, ESL, adult education and culture, Heather has developed expertise in the area of communication and learning, and is able to take a global approach to language assessment and training, inter-cultural communications and materials development.
