Neil Young has written so many classic songs. Here the song HELPLESS, sung by Canada’s KD Lang, takes us back to his youth growing up in Ontario, Canada. According to Wikepedia, the song was “most famously recorded by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young on their 1970 album Déjà Vu… The town in North Ontario referred to in the opening line of the song is often presumed to be Ontario native Young’s hometown; Young himself cleared up the rumors saying:

“Well, it’s not literally a specific town so much as a feeling. Actually, it’s a couple of towns. Omemee, Ontario, is one of them. It’s where I first went to school and spent my ‘formative’ years. Actually I was born in Toronto…”

“Canadian singer-songwriter and musician, Neil Young, began performing… in Canada in 1960, before moving to California in 1966. There he co-founded the band Buffalo Springfield along with Stephen Stills and Richie Furay, later joining Crosby, Stills & Nash as a fourth member in 1969… His career has since spanned over 45 years and 35 studio albums, with a continual and uncompromising exploration of musical styles. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame website describes Young as “one of rock and roll’s greatest songwriters and performers”. He has been inducted into the Hall of Fame twice: first as a solo artist in 1995, and second as a member of Buffalo Springfield in 1997.” Listen to the song below.
